Meet Marla M Brown: The Heart, Soul, and Gut Behind MMB Next Level Coaching

Hey there! I’m so glad you’ve stopped by. If you’ve been hanging around the MMB Next Level Coaching community for a while, you’ve probably seen my name, read my tips on gut health, or maybe even caught a glimpse of my latest recipe experiments. But today, I wanted to pull back the curtain a bit.
We often talk about "Next Level" health, but what does that actually look like when it’s not in a textbook or a coaching session? To me, wellness isn't a destination or a strict set of rules: it’s a lifestyle fueled by curiosity, flavor, and a whole lot of heart.
So, let’s get formally introduced!
The Face of the Mission
First things first, here is the official "me." I recently had some new headshots taken, and I love this one because it feels exactly like how I want to show up for you: professional enough to guide you through the science, but friendly enough to sit down and have a real talk about why those late-night sugar cravings are actually happening.

I’m Marla M Brown, the CEO and founder of MMB Next Level Coaching. Since starting this journey in 2022, my mission has been to help people regain control of their health through sustainable, root-cause solutions. I’m a Certified Gut Health Nutrition Specialist, a Health and Wellness Coach, and I’m becoming an Integrative Functional Medicine and Nutrition Practitioner. But at my core? I’m just a woman who is deeply obsessed with how we can live our most vibrant, energetic lives.
The Wellness Explorer: Traveling with a Purpose
One of my absolute favorite things to do is hop on a plane and head somewhere I’ve never been. But I’m not your typical "sit on the beach with a book" traveler (though I do love a good beach!). I consider myself a Wellness Explorer.
Whenever I visit a new country or culture, I’m immediately looking at how the locals live. How do they move? How do they socialize? And most importantly, what are they eating? There is so much wisdom in traditional cultures that we’ve lost in our fast-paced, processed-food world.
Whether it’s observing the Mediterranean way of slow, communal dining or learning about fermented foods in Asia, I bring these lessons back home with me. I believe that health isn't a one-size-fits-all American concept; it’s a global language. Understanding how different people thrive helps me bring a more diverse and intuitive perspective to my coaching.

The Food Alchemist and the Grocery Store Treasure Hunt
If you ever lose me in a crowd, check the nearest grocery store. Seriously. While some people find grocery shopping a chore, for me, it’s a total Treasure Hunt. I can spend hours wandering the aisles, especially the international sections or local farmer's markets, looking for new ideas and ingredients.
Finding a weird-looking root vegetable or a spice I’ve never heard of is like finding gold. This is where my "Food Alchemist" side kicks in. I love taking these international inspirations and figuring out how to make them "MMB-approved."
How can we take a traditional dish and make it even better for your gut? How can we swap out inflammatory oils for something that loves your body back? My kitchen is my lab, and my goal is always to prove that "healthy" and "delicious" are not mutually exclusive. I want you to get excited about what’s on your plate, not feel restricted by it.

Nature’s Medicine Kit: Herbs and Supplements
I’ve always been fascinated by the idea that nature has already provided much of what we need to heal. While I absolutely believe in the power of modern science (remember, I’m all about science-backed nutrition!), I have a deep love for Nature’s Medicine Kit.
Herbs and supplements aren't just "add-ons" for me; they are foundational tools. I’m constantly researching how we can use things like ginger for inflammation, ashwagandha for stress, or specific probiotics to rebuild a damaged gut lining.
In my coaching, we don't just throw a handful of pills at a problem. We look at your body’s unique needs and see how we can use natural tools to support your systems. It’s about being proactive rather than reactive. Instead of waiting until you’re sick to take action, we build a "medicine kit" of lifestyle habits and natural supports that keep you resilient year-round.

The Soundtrack of Life
Wellness isn’t just about what you eat or how many steps you get in; it’s about your vibration. And for me, that vibration is set by music.
I love music. It’s the soundtrack to my life. Whether I’m cooking up a storm, heading out for a walk, or just decompressing after a long day of coaching, there is always a beat in the background. Music has an incredible way of shifting our nervous system. It can take us from a state of "fight or flight" to "rest and digest" in a matter of minutes.
I often tell my clients that if they’re feeling stressed, sometimes the best "supplement" is a 5-minute dance party in the kitchen. It’s all connected! Your joy, your movement, and your gut health are all part of the same beautiful song.
